Lexus of Port Macquarie 2017 - Port Macquarie Golf Club

The Lexus of Port Macquarie Golf Invitational finally took place after the event in March was postponed due to poor weather. The weather was much kinder for the rescheduled event and the prediction of rain never eventuated. The windy conditions however made scoring hard and birdies were difficult to come by...

Four teams managed to finish within a shot of the winning score. The team of David & Meg Featherstone, Eric & Anne Coutts had the winning prize in their hands after three birdies in a row took them to the top of the leaderboard. Unfortunately they bogeyed their final two holes to drop to 4th with a nett 60.375. In third place was Craig Allport, Peter Ebert, Gill Baker & Warren Plowright, who after a steady but slow start, finished with three birdies in their last five holes to finish with a nett 60.125. Just one eighth of a shot in front was Peter Hearle, Bill Cumberland, Ron Leeson & Lloyd Beeby who had an up and down round with three birdies and three bogeys to finish on nett 60. Our winners on the day were never really in contention until they finished strongly with four birdies in their last six holes to take the victory by 0.5 of a shot with a nett 59.5. Congratulations to David Anderson, Craig & Ian Emmerson and Michael Pring. 

It was a big day for Michael Pring who also took out the Melbourne Cup Experience!

Four guests took part in the beginner golf lessons hosted by the local golf professional. Winning the pitching competition was Ede Genders and the bunker competition was won by Lynette Leeson. 

Thanks also to the guests who managed to raise $310 for Australian Cancer Research.
