Lexus of Newcastle - The Vintage 2017

The Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational was held at The Vintage Golf Club in the beautiful Hunter Valley. A record number of Lexus owners were on hand, keen to test their golf skills on the championship layout. 

The scores reflected the great condition the course was in, with one team managing to finish on 11 under par after seven straight birdies to complete their round. Unfortunately, being one of the corporate teams they were ineligible to win a prize, however we must congratulate them on a great round - well done, Nick Blanch, Sam Brown, Justin Troy & Brayden Peterson. In third place with a nett 58.25 were Mark Sampson, Margaret Power, Ron Stephenson & Senone Stephenson, who after a slow start with a bogey on their third hole, managed three quick birdies to get their round back on track. The runners up managed five birdies on their way to a nett 57.125 and if not for a late bogey, they may well have been able to keep the momentum going to lift the trophy. Commiserations to Pierre Thomas, Susie Wells, Steve Lewis & John Yates. Our winners separated themselves from the field to win by 3.5 shots with a nett 53.625, although after a three putt bogey on their third hole, winning the day would have been furthest from their minds. They managed to put that behind them when they had four birdies on their next five holes and essentially never looked back to take the win. Congratulations to David Stretton (2), Danielle Koppman (27), Phil Russell (26) & Kay Russell (36). 

Guests also had the chance to win a Lexus CT200h if anyone was lucky enough to have a hole in one on the 17th hole. Unfortunately no car went off but the Lexus guests did manage to raise $1,420 for Tour de Cure. A total of eleven guests took part in the beginner golf lessons with local golf professional Richard Mercer. Congratulations to Arthur Wollen who won the putting competition and Pam Porter who won the chipping competition.
