Lexus of Maroochydore 2017 - Twin Waters Golf Club
The Lexus of Maroochydore Golf Invitational was played in perfect conditions on the beautiful Twin Waters layout. A record attendance were keen to test their golfing skills and check out the latest Lexus LC500 that was on display.
One team, in particular, found the course to their liking with a fantastic score of nine under par. A steady front nine of four under was followed by a back nine of five under, including an eagle at the Lexus Eagle Challenge and birdies on the final two holes. Congratulations to our winners, the Elks family, John, Judy, Murray & Thelma who finished with a nett 52.5 to be more than three shots better than the next best team. Behind the winning team it was extremely congested with five groups within a shot of the runner up score. It was so close that it required a count back to separate the runners up who both finished with a nett 55.875. Sneaking over the line in second place with a clean score card of eleven pars and seven birdies were John Digby, Diane Hudson, David Fuge & Rob Dick. The team of Gary Reilly, Ian Bieske, Balkar Bains & Todd Young were the unlucky ones who missed out on the count back to finish in third place. That said, they must be happy after they started with a par and a bogey before they had an inspired run of five birdies in their next six holes to make their way to a podium finish.
Eight players enjoyed the beginner golf lessons with local golf professional, Anthony Gilligan. Congratulations to Vickie Jaenke who won the putting competition and Bernice Murchison who won the chipping competition.
A fantastic $930 was raised for AMA Queensland - thank you to all those who contributed.
Alan Donovan was the lucky winner of the Melbourne Cup Experience and will enjoy the opportunity to play Royal Melbourne Golf Club and attend the Lexus Design Pavilion for the running of the Melbourne Cup.
