Lexus of Canberra 2017 - Royal Canberra Golf Club
A record crowd was on hand for the Lexus of Canberra Golf Invitational at the beautifully presented Royal Canberra Golf Club. With the weather predicted to be very hot, it was great to be on the course early and back in the clubhouse by 1:30pm.
The live scoring devices proved to be very popular with one team in particular racing to the front. The team of Dean Hill, Nathan Page, Brett Smith & Steve Loiteron shot to the top of the leaderboard when they twice managed to get 5 birdies in a row during their round. Unfortunately a bogey on their second last hole and low handicaps meant that third place was the best they could do. Squeezing into second place by just 0.17 of a shot was the three ball team of Morgan Bryant, Mishy Hetenyi & Col Bailey - who after a slow start managed to finish 7 under their last 10 holes. The winners of the day ended up separating themselves from the field with a winning score of 55.25, more than two shots better than the runners up. They had a steady start to the round and then threw in an eagle, a birdie, a bogey and two pars in their last two holes to keep things interesting. Congratulations to Gary Bodman, Mike Houston, Gary Lawless & Ben Johnson. For the full results, please click on the button below.
Seven guests also took part in the beginner golf lessons and the winners of the chipping and putting competitions were Nerissa Richardson and Michelle McCormack respectively.
After two hole in ones in the previous years, Lexus of Canberra decided to put up a car on the fundraising 13th hole. Unfortunately the car did not go off but the guests managed to raise $1,555 for Ronald MacDonald House, Canberra.
