Lexus of Blackburn - June 2017 - Royal Melbourne Golf Club
The first of two Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitationals took place at the number one course in the country, Royal Melbourne. A great turn out was on hand for what was a very pleasant winter's day. Two of Lexus' halo cars were on display for all to see - the magnificent LFA and the just released LC500.
Golf came down to a race between two teams who both tore the famous links apart with scores of ten and eleven under par. However when handicaps came in to play it was the team who shot ten under who took out the win with a nett 53.875. Congratulations to Stuart Robertson (6), Corey Lim (13), Sadao Yuasa (19) & Hiroko Yuasa (27) who after a slow start managed to play their last seven holes in eight under par with two chip ins for Eagle! The runners up had a similar round and were one under par after four holes before something clicked and they had seven birdies in a row followed by an eagle to shoot to the top of the leaderboard. Unfortunately for them, they had run out of steam and played the last six holes in one under par to be only 0.375 off the winning score with a nett 54.25. Commiserations to John Gibbons, David Eterovic, Jamus Campell & Sean Lenaghan who had to settle for the runners up prize.
A Lexus CT200h was up for grabs for a hole in one on the 5th hole but unfortunately no guest was able to take out the prize. There was some good news however, with $1,545 being raised for Finnan's gift (supporting cardiac care at The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne).
Six guests joined us for the beginner lessons with local golf professional, Dan Whyley. Congratulations to Steve Monkhouse who took out the putting competition and Panchan Paramo who won the chipping competition.
Fingers and toes were crossed for the drawing of the Melbourne Cup Experience winner but in the end it was Nick Barrett who will be joining us for a return game at Royal Melbourne before watching the Melbourne Cup from the luxury of the Lexus Design Pavilion.
