Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational - Royal Melbourne Golf Club - Sept 2017

The second Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational for 2017 took place at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club under cold and windy conditions. With the forecast of snow to 400m and possible hail, it was amazing how many owners braved the conditions to take on the number one course in the country. 

Scoring was extremely difficult, but that said, a number of teams managed to get around the course with fantastic scores. In third place with a nett 61 was the three ball team of Tony Lim, Benigno Bernardo & Trevor Gin, who managed four birdies in their first eight holes to shoot to the lead. Unfortunately, they posted two bogeys and no more birdies in their last ten holes to miss out on the top prize. The runners up had the lowest score of the day but were also the lowest handicapped team and knew they would need some shots between themselves and the rest of the field if they were to win. In the end, a score of six under par with seven birdies and an eagle was spoilt by two bogeys mid way through the round to leave them with a nett 59.875. Commiserations to Matthew Backman, Brendan Drake, Paul Dwyer & Paul Burke. Our winners were travelling okay after 12 holes at even par, but needed to finish strongly to come into contention...and they did just that, with four birdies in their final six holes to take the win with a nett 58.375. Congratulations to Laurie Bain (13), Annette Bain (29), Mark McKeon (10) & Carol McKeon (25). 

A record 22 Lexus guests attended the beginner golf lessons with two of the local golf professionals. Congratulations to Nick Zhang who took out the putting competition. 

A total of $1,255.50 was raised for Finnan's Gift via the Lexus ribbon event. Unfortunately no one was lucky enough to have a hole in one on the hole and take away a brand new Lexus CT.
