Lexus Golf Invitational - Wed 2017 - Links Hope Island

The first of three Lexus Golf Invitationals took place at the beautiful Links Hope Island under perfect scoring conditions. Those scoring conditions were taken advantage of by many teams, leading to a near record breaking winning score.

Unbelievably one team shot a score of thirteen under par and still didn't finish in the top three nett scores due to their low handicaps. They managed two eagles and nine birdies on their way around to take out the Low Gross prize. Congratulations to Ivan Walls, Stephen Perrin, Jeff Robinson & Justin Dickinson on a great round. In third place with a nett 52.5 were David Wylie, Arvind Bhasin, John Beevers & Peter Jones who had a clean score card with ten birdies and eight pars. The runners up also had ten birdies and had a great run when seven of their birdies came in eight holes at one stage. Still this wasn't enough to catch the winners and they fell more than a shot short with a nett 51.5. Commiserations to Bernhard Weibel, Anthony Appel, Jim Robinson & Yuri Toshie Robinson. Our winners clearly had a great day, shooting a staggering eight under par on the back nine. That said, they thought they had lost it when they only parred their last hole, the Lexus Eagle Challenge hole. Congratulations to Yash Bhoola, Raj Anand, Sukhbir Patheja & Ajay Amin who had a nett 49.75.

Fifteen guests also enjoyed the beginner lessons hosted by two of the local golf professionals. Winning the chipping competition was Jeff Wasley and the putting competition was Richard Norman.

A charity event was conducted on the tough 17th hole and $1,220 was raised for the Australian Medical Association, Queensland. Thank you to all those who contributed.
