Lexus Golf Invitational - Thurs 2017 - Links Hope Island

The second of three Lexus Golf Invitationals at Links Hope Island began with the threat of thunder storms and rain in the Brisbane area. There were many phone calls received to check if the event was still proceeding and in the end we were extremely lucky with only a few teams caught in the rain at the end of the day. 

The scoring conditions were much tougher today, with the prospect of another sub 50 nett literally being blown away! These tough playing conditions certainly condensed the field with eight teams within just over two shots of the winning score. In third place with a nett 56 were Tim Donnelly, Shane Brann, Tom Quinn & Vee Quinn who had the equal best gross score of seven under par, including a personal eagle from Tim on the 16th hole. The runners up were just 0.125 of a shot off the winning score with a nett 55.375 and must be regretting a bogey on their final hole to drop them into second place. Commiserations to Sally Symons, Russell Loane, Norm Meehan & Richard Fulcher. The winners were off to a fast start with three birdies in a row and must have had thoughts of holding the trophy aloft, but that was followed by a slow patch with eleven birdies and just one birdie in the next twelve holes. However a timely birdie on their last hole allowed them to sneak into the winners place with a nett 55.25. Congratulations to Warwick Prentice (10), Colleen Prentice (32), John Reid (19) & Jeff Kaus (25). 

A number of Lexus owners also took part in the beginner lessons with two of the local golf professionals. The chipping competition was won by Oben Candemir and the putting competition by Sue Johnson. 

A bit of fun was had on the tough 17th hole with players able to make use of Tamara's tee shot as well as the Lexus ribbon. A total of $1,066.70 was raised for the Australian Medical Association, Queensland. Thank you to all those who contributed.
