Lexus Golf Invitational - Fri 2017 - Links Hope Island

The final Lexus Golf Invitational at Links Hope Island had a record 121 guests attend. All headed to the first tee full of enthusiasm with perfect scoring conditions on hand.

One team in particular shot out of the blocks to be six under par after their first five holes. Unfortunately this run could not be sustained and they only managed three birdies for their remaining thirteen holes. Still, it was a great effort by a three ball team and they went on to finish nine under par and take out the Low Gross prize. Congratulations to Brad Oliver, Jim Carew & Min Tran. In third place with a nett 54 was the team of Robert McAfee, July McAfee, Michael McAffee & Ian (Mc)Skippen who after a steady start managed six birdies in seven holes midway through their round to race them up the leaderboard. Just 0.125 ahead were the runners up Hugh Robertson, Aynsley Jamieson, Matt Lee & Paul Schimke who finished strongly with three birdies in their last four holes to finish with a nett 53.875. Our winners on the day had the best nett and gross score after finishing with ten birdies and eight pars to win by exactly one shot with a nett 52.875. Congratulations to Nathan McDonald (10), Sergiy Korol (18), Chris Oey (18) & Rodney Rose (27).

There was lots of fun to be had on the course with the PCYC radar gun, the latest Titleist drivers and tee shots from both Jody and Tamara available for the guests to use. A total of $1,575 was raised on the difficult 17th hole via the Lexus ribbon. All the funds raised will be donated to the Australian Medical Association, Queensland. Thank you to all who contributed.
