2024 Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational - Woodlands Golf Club

The Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational was held at a new venue this year, Woodlands Golf Club. The course and the presentation of the clubhouse were both first class and the guests thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to experience one of Melbourne's best venues. Despite being a cool day, we managed to avoid any rain and this would give teams a good opportunity to score.

In the end, one shot separated the top three teams. The third placed team of Patrick Bowen, Harry Chandler, Peter Dodgshun & Geoff Dodgshun had a steady start with a birdie, three pars and a bogey in their first five holes. After a few more pars, they would find their mojo and had six birdies in nine holes to rocket up the leaderboard. Pars on their final two holes would mean they would have to settle for third place with nett 57.37. The runners up were less than a shot off the winning score. They had the lowest round of the day, a fantastic 64, but as the lowest handicapped team in the field, that still wasn't enough. That said, they must be happy with their round of eight under par, that included six birdies and an eagle on the 18th hole. Well played, Liam Godino, Sam Godino, Anthony Rodi & Sam Nania. The winners had a bogey on their first hole of the day and were certainly not thinking too far ahead at that stage. It would take eight holes before they would make their first birdie, but when another four followed in quick succession, it would come down to handicaps to see who would take out the main prize. In the end, nett 56.37 was good enough - congratulations, Stathi Bosmis (27), Greg Renwick (18), John Williams (20) & Fatina Allie (28).
