2023 Sydney City Lexus Golf Invitational - The Lakes - 16th March

The Sydney City Lexus Golf Invitational was held at The Lakes Golf Club. The weather was the first talking point of the day with a forecast top of 36 degrees. Thankfully an early start and carts for all meant we were back in the clubhouse before the real heat came. The course was looking beautiful and low scores would be the order of the day if teams were after the prizes on offer.

In the end, it turned out to be one of the closest finishes we have had at a Lexus day with three teams within half a shot of the winning score and just 0.12 separating first from second. The third placed team of David Gigg, Julie Gigg, Leslie Williams & Francis Williams were off to a great start to be six under par through eleven holes. However, they couldn't improve on that score and would have to settle for third with nett 54.5. The runners up had a steady round with seven birdies and no bogeys. There final hole of the day was the tough par 5 11th and a birdie would have won the day - it was not to be and they missed out on the win by the barest of margins with nett 54.12. Well played, Sengmany Yun, Charlie Yun, Steve Xiao & Ella Wong. After two pars to start, the winners had four birdies in a row to ignite their round. Another five birdies would come their way, allowing them to shoot 63, the lowest round of the day for nett 54. Congratulations Johnny Karavasilias, Miroslav Naskovic, Dean Aaron & Stephen Thomas. The on course charity event raised $4,857 for the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation and when this was matched by Sydney City Lexus, it took the total to $9,714 - thanks to all who contributed! The opportunity to go to the Lexus Melbourne Cup and play The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was drawn at the end of the day and Jeff was the lucky winner. Jeff will have the opportunity to attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
