2023 Lexus of Townsville Golf Invitational - Townsville Golf Club
The Lexus of Townsville Golf Invitational was held at Townsville Golf Club under perfect conditions. There was a great feel to the event with a new clubhouse and, for the first time, golf professionals in every group. The beautiful weather (and golf pros) lent themselves to some great scores with the worst being ten under par!
Scores were so close that a count back was required to separate 2nd and 3rd. The unlucky third placed team of Gavin Cooper, Damien Kelly, Anne Poljakow, Beth Prescott & Will Bruyeres (pro) were off to a great start with six straight birdies. Things slowed down with just one birdie in their next four holes before a strong finish that included three birdies and an eagle would ensure a podium finish with nett 50. The runners up also with nett 50, had a great start and went one better than third place with seven birdies to start their round. All good things have to come to an end though and they would only record three birdies in their next eight holes before a strong eagle, birdie, birdie finish allowed them to scrape by on a count back. The winners did it in style and had eleven birdies in a row to begin their round. They were then extremely disappointed with two pars in a row before the birdies flowed again. They even had the luxury of a par on the final hole to take out the win by just over a shot with nett 48.87. Congratulations Daryll Pearce (5), Sandra Pearce (31), Greg Wilson (21) & Tim Hart (pro). The on course charity event raised in excess of $1,500 for the Cancer Council and when a spare prize was auctioned off for $425, the end result was closer to $2,000 - thanks to all who contributed. Geraldine was on the 16th hole hosting the Flightscope event. For a collection of swings, please see the video below:
Twenty guests also took part in a painting class hosted by Pinot & Picasso - see below for some photos of their amazing work.
The evening finished off with some beautiful food prepared by Touch of Salt, an interview with Cowboys star, Chat Townsend and then the Melbourne Cup Draw. Congratulations to Shannon Harris who will have the opportunity to attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
