2023 Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational - Macquarie Links
The Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational was held at Macquarie Links International Golf Club. After this event had to be moved three times last year due to the Sydney weather, it was great to be able to get it in first go! Scoring was as close as we have ever seen with three groups within 0.12 of the winning score and count backs required for the Low Gross prizes.
The third placed team of Patrick Mangraviti, Ken Mangraviti, Michael Keenan & Alan Lau were just 0.12 shy of the winning score with nett 53.37, but unfortunately, another team also recorded a score of 53.37 and they would be relegated to third place on count back. Their round started off steadily with just one birdie through their first seven holes, however that would quickly change when they had six birdies in their next eight holes. Still, it was not quite enough and they would have to settle for third place. The runners up had a mixed round with an eagle, eight birdies and two bogeys and again were just 0.12 off the winning score with nett 53.37. With one hole to play a birdie on the last would have given them victory but with that hole being the tough par 3 15th, it was always going to be a challenge and a par was the best they could do. Well played, Ross Gschwind, Chris Gschwind, Martin Perry & Matthew George. After a run of four birdies to start their round, the winners must have already been preparing their speech. However, a bogey on their ninth hole would bring them back to reality before a streak of four more birdies followed. They played their last five holes in just one under par, but it was good enough to take the win with nett 53.25.
