2026 Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational - The Vintage Golf Club

The Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational was held at The Vintage Golf Club, and you know you’re in for a great day when hot air balloons are floating across the sky above. With perfect conditions greeting the field, the scoring was equally impressive, with just half a shot separating the top two teams.

Claiming third place were Brian Swayn, Debbie Swayn, Emi Morimoto & Matthew Penrose. Their round got off to a slow start with a bogey on the opening hole, but they quickly recovered, making three birdies over the next six holes. Two further bogeys stalled their momentum, and at the halfway mark they were sitting at two under par and well off the pace. They found another gear on the closing stretch, however, playing five holes in an impressive six under par. Unfortunately, a bogey on their final hole ended their hopes of victory, leaving them with a nett 55.25 and third place.

Finishing just half a shot ahead were runners-up Trevor Brown, Kelvin Mather, Mark Leach & Peter Smith, who recorded a nett 55.62. Like the third-place team, they also opened with a bogey before finding their rhythm, producing eight birdies over the next fifteen holes. With just two holes remaining, victory was firmly within their grasp, but an untimely bogey on the final hole saw them slip into second place. In the end, they finished just half a shot behind the winning score.

Taking out the victory by less than a shot with an outstanding round of 63 were Andrew Cawsey (8), Mark Petherbridge (18), Andrew Casinder (27) & Graeme Wearne (18). Unlike the other podium finishers, they opened with a birdie and continued to set the pace, reaching six under par through their first ten holes. The challenging sixth hole proved difficult for the field and resulted in a bogey, briefly giving the chasing teams hope. That opportunity was short-lived, however, as the team responded with three more birdies over the closing holes to secure victory with an impressive nett 54.12.
