2026 Lexus of Brighton Golf Invitational - Metropolitan Golf Club
The Lexus of Brighton Golf Invitational was held at The Metropolitan Golf Club, which was presented in outstanding condition. With the weather also playing its part, the players made the most of the conditions, as two teams surged clear of the field to finish more than two and a half shots ahead of the rest of the competition.
Claiming third place were Karen Leonard, Timothy Leonard, Joyce Prokopiou & George Prokopiou with a nett 56.12. They began steadily with three consecutive pars before finding their rhythm with a birdie blitz, recording four in the next five holes. Their momentum then stalled, with five pars and a dreaded bogey making a strong finish essential if they were to feature in the prizes. Fortunately, they rediscovered their touch at just the right time, rolling in three birdies over their final four holes to charge into third place.
Finishing more than two and a half shots ahead of third place were runners-up Daniel Sizer, Chris Jennings, Tony Seychell & Matthew Borg with a nett 53.37. They got off to a flying start with birdies on their opening two holes, only to be brought back to earth with a bogey on the third. That proved to be little more than a speed bump, however, as they went on a tear with seven birdies over the next nine holes. With three holes remaining, they were unknowingly just one birdie away from securing the title. A birdie, a par and a bogey to close meant they would have to settle for an impressive second place.
Taking out the Lexus of Brighton Golf Invitational in style were Marcus Bygrave (13), Garry Beurteaux (16), Serena Johnson (36) & Alana Davis (18) with an outstanding nett 52.67. Their final score of 63 was equal-lowest of the day, and they were one of just two teams to complete their round without dropping a shot to par. After eight holes, they were sitting pretty near the top of the leaderboard at five under par. However, just two birdies over the next seven holes meant they needed a strong finish to seal the win. They delivered when it mattered most, adding three birdies over their closing five holes to secure a fantastic victory.
