2026 Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational - Royal Melbourne - September

The Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational was held at the number one course in the country, Royal Melbourne, where the course was presented in outstanding condition. With the greens running hard and fast, players needed to bring their A-game to score well.

Claiming third place were Shane Luby, Peter Botter, Ruth Hall & Sally Grace. Their round got off to a slow start, with just one birdie in their opening six holes. At the halfway mark, they were sitting at two under par and well off the pace. But the team found another gear, rattling off four birdies in their next five holes to put themselves right back in contention. With a chance to challenge for the win, an untimely bogey on their final hole saw them finish with a very respectable nett 55.87.

Less than half a shot ahead were the runners-up, Paul Schultz, Mark Herman, Api Sundaram & Schumann Shen, who recorded a nett 55.5. They came out firing, opening with a par, two birdies and an eagle in their first four holes. A bogey on the challenging 16th served as an early reality check, but three steady pars settled the team before they hit their straps again with six birdies in the next seven holes. With just three holes remaining, victory was firmly within reach, but three closing pars meant they would have to settle for second place.

Taking out the win by almost two shots with an outstanding nett 53.62 were Mark Austin, James Standfield, Joshua Reid & Paul Spillane. Their final score of 62 was the equal best of the day and featured an incredible ten birdies and not a single bogey. Despite their blistering finish, they were only four under par after ten holes and still had plenty of work to do. Four consecutive birdies proved decisive, before a birdie-birdie finish sealed a convincing victory.
