2025 Lexus of Townsville Golf Invitational - Townsville Golf Club
The Lexus Townsville Golf Invitational was held at its traditional home, Townsville Golf Club. After the wet weather earlier in the year forced us to move the event, we were greeted by sunshine and the course was in great condition to match.
The third placed team of Kenny Torrisi, Adam Bennett, Gordon McHugh & Trevor Rethamel had a quick start with two birdies in their first three holes. Three pars were then followed by four straight birdies and at that stage they must have had their eyes on the top prize. However, they could only manage one birdie for their last eight holes and would have to settle for third place with nett 56.62. The runners up were two under after five holes and settling into the event well. Unfortunately for them, they had a run of ten pars in a row and were destined to miss the podium until three consecutive birdies to finish gave them enough for second place with nett 55.87. Well played, David Stapleton, Karen Stapleton, Peter McLean & Kelly James. The winners had a similar start to their round to be three under after five holes and when four more birdies were added they were able to take out top spot by exactly a shot with nett 54.87. The on course charity event raised $2,515 for the Cancer Council - thanks to all who contributed! Nikki was on the 1st hole with Flightscope - for a collection of swings, please see the video below:
Thirteen guests also took part in the 'bouquets & beverages' event and produced some beautiful floral arrangements.
The opportunity to go to the Lexus Melbourne Cup was drawn at the end of the day and Nikki Beetham was the lucky winner. Nikki will have the opportunity to play Royal Melbourne Golf Club as well as attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
