2025 Lexus of Brighton Golf Invitational - Metropolitan Golf Club
The Lexus of Brighton Golf Invitational was held at the beautiful Metropolitan Golf Club. With the course in great condition and the greens firm and fast, scoring would be challenging, especially with the wind.
The third placed team of Howard Ju, May Kan, Carol Li & Tony Cui were one under par after fifteen holes and were a remote chance of making it onto the podium until a birdie, eagle, birdie finish rocketed them up the leaderboard with nett 56. Just pipping third place on a count back were our runners up of Andrew Mitchell, Hilary Mitchell, Janet Fleming & Brett Fleming. After a quick start with two birdies in their first three holes, they were brought back to earth with a bogey on the next. Five birdies and two bogeys were added to their card for the remaining holes, but it was still enough to sneak into second place. The winners shot the lowest score of the day - a 65 - but after a bogey on their first hole, winning was the last thing on their minds. After seven holes they had managed to claw back to even par, until a great run of golf that included four birdies and an eagle in a five hole stretch gave them hope. In the end they were able to hold onto victory by just 0.5 of a shot with nett 55.5. Congratulations Yuen Sze Trusler (36), Damian Trusler (27), Dean Bryant (6) & Tony Bryant (7). The on course charity event raised in excess of $4,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - thanks to all who contributed and special thanks to Tracy for hosting the hole and sharing her story! The opportunity to go to the Lexus Melbourne Cup and play The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was drawn at the end of the day and Annette Baumgarten was the lucky winner. Annette will have the opportunity to attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
