2025 ANZ Melbourne Golf Day - Woodlands Golf Club
The ANZ Melbourne Golf Day took place at a new venue, Woodlands Golf Club. The forecast was not on our side, but in the end we beat the rain and despite it being cool and windy the scores were fantastic with nine teams within three shots of the winning score.
The top two teams both finished on nett 56.25 and a count back would be required to separate them. Keeping the count back theme going, it was also required to separate third and fourth, with the team of Tim Wood, Richard Homberger, Roy Keenan & Jack Carroll sneaking over the line with nett 57. They had a fast start to their round and were six under after ten holes. Three straight pars slowed things down before they added three birdies to edge into third place. The runners up were even par after five holes, including a bogey on the short 13th. Nine birdies in the next eleven holes would push them quickly up the leaderboard, but two pars to finish would mean they would have to settle for second place, unluckily missing out on a count back with nett 56.25. Well played, Ross Allen, Trevor Vail, Martin Ross & Alister Lahood. The winners were one under par after three holes, before they rattled off six straight birdies to build confidence. They then reached the tough section of the course and played the next seven holes in one under par before birdies on the last two holes gave them the win on a count back with nett 56.25. Congratulations Ben Moceiwai (16), Andy Wingrove (13), Billy Dwyer (9) & James Vicary (8).
