2024 Lexus of Townsville Golf Invitational - Townsville Golf Club
The Lexus of Townsville Golf Invitational was held at Townsville Golf Club under mild but windy conditions. The course was looking beautiful after the recent Pro Am and with every team having a golf professional, low scores would be the order of the day.
The third placed team of Michael Robson, Peter Robson, Geraldine Cockburn, Rhondalyn Morley & pro Anthony Choat were off to a great start with seven birdies in their first eight holes. Six more birdies and an unfortunate bogey would be added to their scorecard before the end of the round, meaning they would have to settle for third place with nett 51.8. Just 0.1 ahead were the runners up with nett 51.7. They found themselves well back on the leaderboard after they were only two under after five holes. Things quickly changed and they managed to play their remaining holes in nine under par, including an eagle on the par 4 6th hole. Well played, Megan Barbagallo, Beth Prescott, Peter McLean, Mal Quantrill & pro William Bruyeres. The winners simply had the most incredible start to a round imaginable, with it taking ten holes before they recorded their first par. Their previous nine holes consisted of an eagle and eight birdies! With eight holes remaining and tee shots required to be shared around they still managed five more birdies on their way to signing for 56 and nett 50.5. Congratulations Paul Carey (18), Boyd Spalding (18), David Parkes (12), Tony Stelmaschuk (7) & Jye Pickin (Pro).
