2023 Lexus of Springwood Golf Invitational - Links Hope Island
The Lexus of Springwood Golf Invitational was held at Links Hope Island on a beautiful day. The course was in perfect shape and that would mean low scores would be the order of the day, especially with all the help on course.
In the end, the top three scores would have won any of the other Lexus of Brisbane Group golf days. The third placed team of Damien O'Brien, Tim Grigg, David Kuo and Nicholas Lee started on the charity hole and with a generous donation, they were straight to the top of the leader board. Two birdies would follow in the next seven holes before a stretch of six birdies in seven holes saw them take control of the event. Unfortunately for them, they only made pars on their last three holes and would have to settle for third place with nett 52.62. The runners up had an incredible round and had recorded ten birdies and an eagle after sixteen holes. Then, from nowhere, came a bogey on the par 3 14th hole and this was enough to drop them out of first place with nett 52.33. Well played, Geoff Doo, Gavin Hunter & Shane Anderson. The winners had a steady start to be one under par after five holes and then clearly found something to record five birdies in a row. Some steady golf returned before their final hole (the charity hole) where they made the wise team choice to purchase a hole in one, taking them to victory by just 0.58 of a shot. Congratulations Dion Cardon-Smith (17), Lisa Cardon-Smith (10), Jason Barnes (27) & Penny Barnes (36) who finished with nett 51.75.
