2023 Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational - The Vintage Golf Club

The Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational was held at The Vintage Golf Club on a beautiful day. The course was in perfect shape and that would mean low scores would be the order of the day.

In the end, one team ran away with the victory by just over two shots after shooting the lowest score of the day, an incredible 63! The third placed team of Maree Hannah, Thomas Hannah, Wayne Reid & Adrian Christie started well with a birdie on their first hole. They would manage to find another four birdies during their round, but it was the two bogeys that stopped them from making their way further up the leader board and they would have to settle for third with nett 55.62. Just 0.12 of a shot better with nett 55.5 were the runner up team of Brian Swayn, Debby Swayn, Keith Brown & Ken Peddie. They were well back after nine holes at two over par, before they found some magical golf to play the last nine holes in six under par and leapfrog more than half the field. The winners were the only team to complete their round without a bogey and that, combined with a nine hole stretch of six birdies and an eagle certainly kept the chasing pack at bay. That run of holes gave them the luxury of six pars to finish and still take out the victory by more than two shots with nett 53.12. Congratulations Lisa Ponder (36), Simon Ponder (15), Craig Park (8), & Kyran Bloemers (20). For the full results from the day, please click on the button below - 'Download All Results'.
