2023 Lexus of Brisbane Golf Invitational - Links Hope Island
The Lexus of Brisbane Golf Invitational was held at Links Hope Island on a beautiful day. The course was in perfect shape and that would mean low scores would be the order of the day, especially with all the help on course.
In the end, it was extremely close, with three teams finishing within a shot of the winning score. The third placed team of Barry Brewster, Imtiyaz Ghumra, Gurdip Singh & Bruce Manderson had three birdies in their opening five holes and must have been feeling very confident. Unfortunately for them, they could only manage another three birdies for the rest of the round (with the exception of a generous donation on the charity hole) and would eventually finish with nett 54.75. Bruce Gleeson, Warren Ormiston, Truong Son Nguyen & Thomas Dang were the runner up team and they were less than half a shot better than third place with nett 54.37. They had a steady start and were two under after seven holes, but things would soon heat up with five straight birdies rushing them up the leader board. Another two birdies would be added to their card before they finished and they would go on to record the lowest score of the day, a 63 leaving them just shy of the winning score. The winners had a fantastic birdie birdie start, but that would soon be undone when they had two bogeys, leaving them well done the leader board on even par after ten holes. Knowing they had a decent handicap up their sleeve, they pushed on and finished with six birdies in their last eight holes to just sneak ahead with nett 53.87. Congratulations Jan Leggett (22), Rob Leggett (22), Myles Burfield (17) & Laura Gilchrist (36). For the full results from the day, please click on the button below - 'Download All Results'.
