2023 ANZ Sydney Golf Day - The Lakes Golf Club

The ANZ Sydney Golf Day took place at The Lakes Golf Club on a warm, but windy day that would make scoring tough for most teams. The course was in fantastic condition with the Club Championships to be hosted a few days later and The Australian Open in a couple of months.

In the end, one team proved too good for the rest, taking out the win by 1.5 shots. The difference between second and third was much closer, just 0.25 of a shot. The third placed team of Ben Moceiwai, David Kirwan, Ryan O'Shea & Geoff Walker had a great start to their round to be three under through four holes. They only managed to go one under for their next seven holes before they were able to find a few more birdies and finish with nett 57.75. The runners up also had a great start and were five under after eight holes, including a great eagle on the 14th. Unfortunately for them, they could only manage another two birdies for the rest of the round and would have to settle for second place with nett 57.5. Well played, Ross Allen, Steve Campbell, Martin Ross & Matt Raftery. The winners had an eagle on their second hole of the day and a few holes later they recorded four straight birdies to put them on top of the leader board. A stretch of six pars would follow before they finished birdie, birdie to take out the win with nett 56 - coincidentally, the same winning score as 2022.
