2022 Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational - Huntingdale Golf Club
The second Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational was held at Huntingdale Golf Club under perfect conditions. The course was looking beautiful and low scores would be the order of the day if teams were after the prizes on offer.
The winners separated themselves from the field by just over 1.5 shots, but it was very different when it came to second and third place, with just 0.12 between them. The third placed team of Sheldon D'Souza, Jason Grieves, Henry Cheng & David Cate were off to a fantastic start to be six under par through nine holes. However they would play their last nine holes in only one under par and would have to settle for third with nett 54.87. The runners up had a mixed round and were four under through six holes, but then two bogeys were recorded before they came home strongly with four birdies in their last eight holes. Well played, Peter Renwick, Rebecca Renwick, Stathi Bosmis & Greg Renwick who recorded nett 54.75. The winners were never troubled and shot the lowest gross score of the day by three shots. A birdie, birdie, birdie start filled them full of confidence and despite a run of four pars in a row at one stage they finished off nicely with three birdies in their last four holes to take the victory by 1.63 shots with nett 53.12. The on course charity event raised $3,700 for the Breast Cancer Network Australia and Shane Crawford was present to accept the donation on behalf of the charity - thanks to all who contributed! The opportunity to go to the Lexus Melbourne Cup and play The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was drawn at the end of the day and Peter Renwick was the lucky winner. Peter will have the opportunity to attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
