2022 Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational - The Eastern

The Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational was held at The Eastern Golf Club and after some heavy rain overnight, the sun appeared and we were lucky to not require an umbrella for the rest of the day. All guests were in carts and despite the wind picking up mid morning, some great scores were shot with the aid of Dimi Papadatos, Ashleigh and the other help on course.

The final result was extremely close with just 0.25 of a shot separating first and second. The third placed team of Raffaele Colasante, Miles Gowty, Shane Crawford & Jeffrey Guy were off to a fantastic start with three birdies in their first four holes. Another birdie and a hole in one at the charity hole had them headed for victory until they made bogeys at their last two holes and would have to settle for third with nett 57.37. The runners up shot the lowest score of the day with a 64, but still that wasn't good enough and they would have to settle for second with nett 56.37. They too, looked headed for victory until their only bogey of the day came on their second last hole. Commiserations to Kevin Birtles, Nick Harvey, Alan Seedman & Greg Jones. The winners were off to a fantastic start to be eight under par after eleven holes. This had them well out in front on the leader board, but they couldn't manage any more birdies and like the other teams on the podium, they also bogeyed a hole late in their round. Despite this, they still managed to take the victory by 0.25 a shot with nett 56.12. Congratulations Yuji Ito (18), Noel Slater (11), Anthony Cook (18) & Geoff Meakin (24). The on course charity event raised $2,060 for the Breast Cancer Network Australia and Shane Crawford was present to accept the donation on behalf of the charity - thanks to all who contributed! The opportunity to go to the Lexus Melbourne Cup and play The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was drawn at the end of the day and the winner will have the opportunity to attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
