2022 Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational - Port Kembla

The Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational was held at Port Kembla Golf Club for the first time and despite the rainy start to the day, guests were rewarded with a beautiful afternoon. Scoring was bound to be good with Lexus Australia Golf Ambassador, Dimi Papadatos, six-time Australian Long Drive Champion, Mark Bylsma and three golf pros on course. In fact, three teams would go on to shoot 62 and yet only one of those teams would make a podium finish!

The third placed team of Chris Gschwind, Lawrence Watson & Reg Mahoney were off to an amazing start to be seven under through ten holes. Unfortunately for them, they could not make another birdie and would have to settle for third place with nett 53.17. In contrast, the runners up were only one under par through nine holes and needed a strong finish if they were going to feature. Luckily the strong finish ensued and they went six under in seven holes to rocket up the leader board to finish with nett 52.87, just 0.5 short of the winning score. Well played, Andrew Reid, Sue Reid, Christopher Meakins & Cheryll Meakins. The winners were not thinking about a victory speech when they were one over par after three holes. However, nine birdies and a charity hole in one later, they would go on to shoot 62 and take out the victory with nett 51.37.
