2022 Lexus of Rockhampton Golf Invitational - 22nd June
The Lexus of Rockhampton Golf Invitational was held under perfect conditions at Rockhampton Golf Club. The course was in the best condition we have seen it and with a golf professional in each group, scoring would no doubt be good.
In 2021 three teams finished with 61, but this year that was bettered or equalled by nine teams and two teams recorded incredible 57s! The third placed team was one of those 57s and went on an incredible run in the middle of their round to record nine birdies in ten holes. That work was undone by a bogey, but when they finished eagle, eagle, birdie they were no doubt destined for the podium. Well played, Lucas Higgins, Phil Tassin, Shannon Van Nuen & Rendon Johnston who finished with nett 50. The runners up were twelve under through fourteen holes and looked like going back to back, but only one birdie on their last four holes meant they would have to settle for second. Well done, Damien Jordan, Ian Weigh, Stephen Weigh, Rebecca Cassidy & Helen Knuth who finished with nett 48.9. The winners finished exactly one shot ahead when they had nett 47.9, however they were off to a slow start with just one birdie after three holes. They would play the next fourteen holes in fourteen under par (including three eagles!) and even had the luxury of a par on the last to take out the victory. Congratulations to Tim Hart (Pro), Reg Bradford (24), Bruce Ballentine (27), Danny Wilson (22) & Kevin Huff (18).
