2019 Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational - Macquarie Links Golf Club

The Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational was held Macquarie Links International Golf Club. The forecast was less than perfect with a predicted 'rain bomb' on its way to the Sydney area. Thankfully our early tee time allowed us to beat the weather and in excess of 120 guests enjoyed the experience. 

The live scoring devices kept everyone abreast of the on course situation, as two teams finished with scores of eleven under par. When handicaps were taken into account there was a clear winner, but the difference between second and third was a mere 0.125 of a shot. In third place with a nett 52.5 were Paul Lovegrove, Eion Turnbull, Robert Waterford & Robbie Waterford. They managed to get off to a great start with five birdies on the card after just eight holes, unfortunately for them, momentum slowed a little and they could only manage four more birdies and a dreaded bogey on their fourth last hole to shoot 64. The second place team had a nett 52.375 and after they shot the equal lowest round of the day, a 61, they must have been feeling hard done by to not take home the winner's prize. They started steadily but found some form mid-way through the round, when they had seven under for seven holes, including an eagle from a hole out on the tough 14th hole. Well done to Warwick Williams, Peter Scullion, Gennaro D'Andretti & Tony D'Andretti. The winning team also shot 61 but with a bit more handicap they were able to post a nett 51. Again a steady start didn't deter them as they went on to record eleven under for their last thirteen holes to win by just over a shot. Congratulations to Matt Purvis (19), Adam Tesoriero (18), Scott Foster (25), & Steve Stavrou (18).

The charity event on course raised $1,285 for the Sutherland Hospital, Children's Ward - thank you to all who contributed. We also had the 'smash factor' hole on the 17th - see below for a collection of shots (including the winning smash factors of 1.52!).
