2018 Lexus Golf Invitational - Links Hope Island - Friday

A great Friday crowd were on hand for the third Lexus Golf Invitational at the beautiful Links Hope Island and after the amazing 59 scored by a team the previous day, nobody was prepared to predict what score would be required to win.

In third place with a nett score of 54 were the team of Nicholas Kolatsis, David Correy, Hugh Sheardown & Ross Murphy, who after a bogey on their second hole of the day must have thought all was lost. However, they went on to shoot eight birdies in a fifteen hole stretch to sneak a podium finish. The runners up had a slow start with three pars before they birdied five of the next six holes to storm up the leaderboard. They managed to finish eight under par for a nett 53.25. Well done to Tony Calvert, Matt Allen, Angus Zhang & Shuting Liu. The winners were just under a shot better with a nett 52.375, but their lower handicap meant they had to shoot a fantastic ten under par to win. This win, however, must have been in doubt after five holes when they were only one under par. That was quickly rectified when they birdied seven holes in a row from the 15th to the 3rd hole. There were a host of activities on course, including the radar gun on the 8th hole, a free drive from Ali on the 11th, the charity event on the 17th raising funds for MND & ME and the shot tracer on the 2nd hole. For all the action from the 2nd, please see the video below. 

No one was more excited at the end of the day when Richard Denby's name was drawn out as the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience. Well done Richard, we look forward to hosting you for what should be a fantastic event.
