Sydney City Lexus Golf Invitational - March 2018 - The Lakes Golf Club

The Sydney City Lexus Golf Invitational took place at The Lakes Golf Club, home of the 2018 Australian Open. A very poor forecast reduced our numbers, but all who turned up were pleasantly surprised by the weather we were presented with.

Scoring was always going to be tough on the windy day, but some teams did manage to post some great totals in the conditions. In third place with a nett 57 was the team of Gerald Hindmarch, Hilda Hindmarch, John McClorey & Terry Mullan who had seven birdies in their round but were undone by three straight bogeys from the 1st to the 3rd holes. The runners up managed an eagle, six birdies and a loan bogey to leave them with a nett 56.625. Well done to Andrew Kim, Gav Johnson, Heath Morgan & Mark Brenton. Our winners were one of only two teams on the course not to have a bogey and that coupled with seven birdies was enough to give them the victory with a nett 55.375. Congratulations to Robbie Josephsen (17), Neil Kumar (15), Gary Gordon (27) & Mark Whitby (18).

The charity event on course managed to raise $1,405 for the Royal Children's Hospital, Randwick. Thank you to all who contributed!

The golfers also had the chance to win a Lexus CT valued at $47,000 should they have been lucky enough to have recorded a hole in one on the 18th hole. Unfortunately, no car was able to be given away, but for the evidence of the shots, please see the video below.

Fifteen guests also attended the beginner golf lessons and congratulations go to Guy Bezzina for winning the chipping competition and Rashi Mathur for winning the putting competition.
