2019 Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational - The Vintage Golf Club

The Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational took place at The Vintage Golf Club on what was the most perfect day...until the dust storm arrived, thankfully after we made it into the comfort of the clubhouse.

The course was in fantastic condition after some recent rain and good scores would be required to take out the win. Dealer Principal, Phil McCarroll's team played some great golf but were ineligible to take the prizes. That said, their round of 64 gets them an honourable mention here. The third place team of Peter Wyper, Jennifer Wyper, Bruce Chambers & Jennifer Chambers were five under through ten holes and well placed to win the event, until two bogeys in the space of four holes meant they would have to settle with a nett 57.25. Just half a shot in front with nett 56.75 were our runners up who played steady golf all day with five birdies and just the one bogey - well done to Rodney Vaughan, Fred Pawlak, Mark Braddish & Michael Alexander. The winners were struggling early in their round until they had a bit of luck on the charity hole and received an automatic birdie. This spurred them on to some better golf and they closed out with three birdies in their last six holes to win by two shots exactly with a nett 54.75. Congratulations to David Stretton (2), Danielle Stretton (26), Phil Russell (26) & Kay Russell (36).

The charity event on course and the auction for the set of Piranha irons raised in excess of $2,500 for Tour de Cure - thank you to all who contributed. Ashleigh was managing the 'smash factor' hole on the 10th - see below for a collection of shots (including our winning smash factors of 1.52!).

Eleven guests also enjoyed the beginner golf lessons with Troy MacDonald, the local golf professional. Congratulations to the following winners:

Putting Competition - Henry Grob

Chipping Competition - Tony Bendeich

The opportunity for one Lexus owner to attend the Lexus Melbourne Cup was drawn at the end of the day. Congratulations to Thomas Hannah who will be playing the number one course in the country, Royal Melbourne Golf Club, followed by a day at the races in the Lexus Design Pavilion for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
