Lexus of Wodonga Golf Invitational 2017 - Commercial Club, Albury

The Lexus of Wodonga Golf Invitational was again held at the Commercial Club, Albury and with a record crowd on hand and perfect weather, scoring was bound to be hot.

In third place with a nett 57.25 was the team of Shaun Joyce, Shelley Smith, Robert Whitehead and Anthony Whitehead, who were on top of the leaderboard at six under par until they realised they had to allocate three tee shots with only four holes to play. This inevitably lead to their first bogey of the day and dropped them into third place overall. The difference between the winners and runners up was only half a shot and if it wasn't for three bogeys during their round the story would have been different for our runners up, Gerard Percy, Bernadette Percy, Max Luff & Lynn Luff who finished with nett 55.75. Our overall winners had the equal lowest handicap in the field and therefore needed to shoot a low score to be able to compete. After a slow start with nine straight pars, the win was the last thing on their minds. Then they made the turn to the back nine and things changed dramatically, with seven birdies coming home to finish with a 63 and take out first place with a nett 55.25. Congratulations to Dean Jacob, Len Quinlivian, Robert Dick & Dean Howard.

Three guests also took part in the beginner golf lessons and Cecilia Sinclair was awarded the encouragement award.

A total of $550 was raised for Relay for Life via the Lexus ribbon event on tough 15th hole.

Dinner took place at the beautiful Miss Amelie's and guests were treated to a great venue and amazing food. Congratulations to Maureen & Russell Mathews who were drawn out as the winners of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience.
