Lexus of Toowoomba Golf Invitational 2017 - Toowoomba Golf Club

The inaugural Lexus of Toowoomba Golf Invitational took place at the Toowoomba Golf Club, Middle Ridge. The predicted rain didn't scare any of the guests away and a great turn out was on hand to take on the beautiful course. 

Scoring proved to be easier for some teams than others, but in the end there were five groups within three shots of the winning score. In third place with a nett 55.67 were the three ball team of Callum Chatto, Jack Bishop & Joan Baty who had eight birdies and one loan bogey on their way to seven under par. The winners and runners up had to be separated by a count back after they both finished with fantastic nett 53's. Missing out by the barest of margins was the team of Ivan Walls, Peter Meyer, Tim Dight & Joel Dass who shot an incredible fourteen under par with twelve birdies and an eagle, but it was their low handicaps that stopped them from taking the win. Our eventual winners started slowly and were only three under par after their first nine holes. A couple of birdies to start the back nine helped push them up the leaderboard, but it was the fantastic finish of five straight birdies, including a chip in at the last that allowed them to take the win on a count back. Nine guests took part in the beginner golf lessons that were hosted by local professional Leah Hart. Taking out the putting competition was Cathy Weigh and the chipping competition was won by Charlotte Chimes. 

A total of $640 was raised on course for the RACQ Life Flight Rescue - thank you to all who donated. 

A number of additional guests joined the lunch and enjoyed the opportunity to hear from Olympic Golf Medalist and Australian Rugby Seven's representative, Emilee Cherry.
