The Lexus of Cairns Golf Invitational took place at the magnificent Paradise Palms and after an early shower the guests were treated to a beautiful day. The course was in fantastic condition after the recent playing of the Cairns Classic and with the host of Lexus cars on display (including the brand new LC) the guests had the feeling that they were also playing in a tournament.
Four teams finished the 18 holes on four under par and it took handicaps to separate them with the winners creeping over the line by the smallest of margins...just 1/8 of a shot. Commiserations go to the runners up, Matthew Wallace, Geoff Hewson, James Thomson & Nils Thomson who were off to a flying start when they eagled their second hole. They then managed two birdies and two bogeys for their remaining 16 holes, leaving them with a nett score of 55.875. The winners on the day had a steady start to be one under after their first nine holes including two birdies and a bogey. It was, however, their last nine holes of three under par that took them to victory. Congratulations, Michael Kim, Jason Kim, David Bailey & Andrew Beck who finished with a nett 55.75.
The beginner lessons were well attended with 16 guests in total. All of the guests had the opportunity to test their skills with a chipping and putting competition. Congratulations to Denise Vine for winning the putting competition and Rochelle Kettles for winning the chipping competition.
The Lexus charity hole managed to raise $585 for Cancer Research, thank you again to all those who contributed.
The luckiest person on the day would have to have been Chris Marsh who was the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience. Congratulations on the win Chris, we look forward to hosting you for a game of golf at Royal Melbourne followed by a day at the Melbourne Cup in the Lexus Design Pavilion.
