Lexus of Adelaide Golf Invitational 2018 - Royal Adelaide Golf Club

The Lexus of Adelaide Golf Invitational was held at the majestic Royal Adelaide Golf Club. As usual the course was in fantastic condition and the Adelaide weather was ideal for the first Lexus event of the year.

With perfect conditions, it was no surprise that the winning score was the best for the last four years with a nett 55.5. In third place with 57.25 were Ian Hancock, Mark Johns, Craig Noble & Andrew Scott, who were pushed by four other teams that finished within a shot.  The second placed team were only 0.625 of a shot away from the winning score and must be ruing their late bogey on the 11^th hole after a great round that included five birdies and an eagle. Two teams shot seven under par on the day but when handicaps were applied, one team was relegated to 4^th place. Our winners shot to the lead after they were five under par through their first eight holes.  A steady run of pars was then undone with a bogey, but thankfully that was quickly followed with an eagle and a birdie to take them to the victory. Congratulations to Ian Henderson (4), Ros Henderson (20), John Mortimer (16) & Vera Mortimer (36).

There were a number of activities on the course and special thanks go to Jody Fleming and Tamie Durdin for hitting shots for the guests. The charity event on the 7^th hole raised $1,545 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation thanks to the opportunity to get an automatic birdie with the yellow ball.

A total of 24 guests attended the Beginner Golf Lessons that were conducted by the local golf professionals, Cameron Howell and Daniel Blackwell. Congratulations to Royce Bowyer and George Belperio who won the putting and chipping competitions respectively.

The luckiest person on the day was Alan Stewart, who was drawn out as the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience.
