Lexus Golf Invitational 2018 - Links Hope Island - Wednesday

A record Lexus crowd was on hand for the first of three Lexus Golf Invitationals that took place at the beautiful Links Hope Island. The larger crowd and perfect playing conditions meant scoring was going to be hot. 

In third place with a fine score of 56.16 were the team of Phil Langhorne, Dianne Frankin & Kuiko Moore, who as a three ball team did extremely well with two eagles during their round to finish five under par. The runners up had a relatively slow start to their day with just one birdie through their first seven holes. Four birdies in a row quickly followed and they went on to finish with a fine score of eight under par. Well done to Brian Smith, Gordon Muir, Don Butler & Grant Schwikkard who finished with a nett 55.5. Our winners not only shot the lowest score of the day but also had the lowest nett with 52.875 to win by more than two shots when they posted ten under par. There were a host of activities on course, including the radar gun on the 8th hole, a free drive from Ali on the 11th, the charity event on the 17th raising funds for MND & ME and the shot tracer on the 2nd hole. For all the action from the 2nd, please see the video below. 

A record crowd of twenty six guests took place in the beginner golf lessons with two local professionals. The winners of the various sections can be seen below:

No one was more excited at the end of the day when John Engwirda's name was drawn out as the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience. Well done John, we look forward to hosting you for what should be a fantastic event.
