2022 Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational - Royal Melbourne - 7th March

The Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational was held at the number one course in the country, Royal Melbourne Golf Club. After a cool and blowy start the day, the clouds cleared and guests were treated to a perfect day for golf - meaning teams would have to shoot some low scores to feature. 

In the end it was extremely close, with four teams finishing within half a shot of the winning score. The third placed team must be ruing their slow start when they were one over par after five holes. Thankfully for them, things improved rapidly and they recorded seven birdies in their last thirteen holes to finish with nett 56. Well played, Cassie Walker, Debbie Barr, Stuart Kitto & Matt Hyatt. The unlucky runners up were just 0.05 of a shot short of the winning score with nett 55.67. In contrast to the third placed team, they started strongly with five birdies in their first eleven holes. Unfortunately they couldn't keep that run going and ended up missing out by the barest of margins. Well done to the three-ball team of Joe Ozzimo, Ben Waite & Roger Wallace. The winners were quick out of the blocks with six birdies in their first eight holes and even though they slowed down with two bogeys and only three more birdies for the round, they still did enough to take out the win with nett 55.62. The on course charity event raised $1,400 for Bowel Cancer Australia - thanks to all who contributed. Ashleigh was on the 12th hole measuring the guest's 'smash factor'. For a collection of swings, please see the video below:

The opportunity to go to the Lexus Melbourne Cup and play The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was drawn at the end of the day - congratulations to Kosala Kularatne who will have the opportunity to attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
