2021 Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational - The Vintage Golf Club
The Lexus of Newcastle Golf Invitational was hampered by a terrible forecast that scared off a number of players. Unfortunately for them, they missed a great day with the rain not arriving until the event was completed. The Vintage was presented beautifully, as usual and with soft conditions and assistance from Lexus Golf Ambassador, Dimi Papadatos, scoring was bound to be good.
In the end, scoring was extremely good with seven teams shooting 65 or better. The third placed team of Bruce Chambers, Jennifer Chambers, Warren Jones & James Foteff had nett 52.87 and started nicely to be three under par through their first nine holes. A great run of six under through their next six holes shot them up the leader board, but three pars to finish stopped them from taking out top spot. The runners up were just over a shot better with nett 51.75. They had eagles, birdies, pars and bogeys for a very erratic round, but still managed to finish with a 63. Well played, Andrew Ryan, Greg Jesson, Martyn Westerman & Gregory Carr. The winners were three under par after three holes and must have thought a good round was ahead. But we all know that thinking ahead in golf can be a killer and they would play their next seven holes in one over par. Thankfully for them, they came home with five birdies and were able to take the win with nett 50.7. Congratulations Rod Vaughan (17), Jennifer Wyper (25), Phil Russell (27) & Kayleen Russell (36).
