2020 Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational - Macquarie Links

The Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational started under with the threat of early morning rain, that thankfully had subsided by the time the players took to the practice range and golf course. In excess of 100 players took on the course at Macquarie Links and a further 25 joined us for the beginner golf lessons.

In the end there was very little wind and the opportunity to put a good score on the board was there for the taking. That was done by three teams who managed to shoot fine scores of ten under par. Now it would come down to the differences in handicaps to separate them. In third place were Albert Tory, Trevor Swan, Rod Poll Jnr & Graham Whittaker who had seven birdies, an eagle and a bogey to shoot 64 with a nett 53.75. If not for three birdies in a row to finish, they would not have been on the podium. The runners up were less than half a shot in front with nett 53.37 and managed to get eight birdies and no bogeys on their way round. Oh, and a hole in one for Simon Flack on the 8th hole, certainly did nothing to stop their momentum. Well done to Warwick Williams, Phillip Morris, Simon Flack & Carl Fairbairn. The winners started slowly with three pars in a row and were only two under after their first eight holes, but that quickly changed when they came home with two eagles and four birdies in their last ten holes. In the end, they won by just over half a shot with a nett 52.7. Congratulations to Matt Purvis, Adam Teserio, Steve Stavrou & Scott Foster.
