2020 Lexus of Canberra Golf Invitational - Royal Canberra Golf Club

The Lexus of Canberra Golf Invitational took place at the beautiful Royal Canberra Golf Club under the the most perfect conditions. Guest numbers were fantastic with over 120 playing the 18 holes of golf on a course that was in immaculate condition.

With conditions perfect, good scores would be required to take out the win. The third placed team had nett 55 and only took out that prize after a count back. They managed to have a great round, that included eight birdies and not bogeys - well done to Anthony Stewart, Zac Beeten, Mick Perre & Trent Hill. The runners up had nine birdies in their round, but it was the two bogeys that stopped them from taking the win. Still, they managed to finish with a great score of 54.62 and take out second place. Well done to Chris Greenwood, Don Furner, Darryl Kirkland, David Gray & Brian Thomas. The winners started slowly with a couple of pars, but that quickly changed when they strung three birdies in a row and managed to finish with five birdies in their last seven holes to finish ten under par. In the end, they won by just over a shot with a nett 53.37. Congratulations to Ian Roberts, Travis Doherty, Matthew Phelps & Leigh Stewart.

The charity event on course raised in excess of $1,975 for Ronald McDonald House, Canberra - thank you to all who contributed. Ashleigh was on the 6th tee hitting some tee shots for the guests as well as analysing their swing with Flightscope (including the Men's long drive winner who had a ball speed equivalent to Rory McIlroy - see the first swing below). 

Two guests also enjoyed the beginner golf lessons and were able to go through their paces with one of the local pros. 

The opportunity for one Lexus owner to attend the Lexus Melbourne Cup was drawn at the end of the day. Congratulations to Ken Jackson, who will have the opportunity to play The Metropolitan Golf Club followed by a day at the races in the Lexus Design Pavilion for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
