2019 Lexus of Townsville Golf Invitational - Townsville Golf Club

The Lexus of Townsville Golf Invitational was hosted at the Townsville Golf Club. The course was still recovering from the devastating floods earlier in the year, meaning only twelve holes were in play, but those holes were extremely well presented. 

Given the fact that teams had to play six holes twice, scoring was anticipated to be good. In third place with nett 57 (just 0.25 shots off the runners up) were Chris Candy, Dennis Di Bartolo, Thai Tran & Brett Craven. They were on top of the leaderboard early after five birdies in their first ten holes, but played the last eight holes in level par to settle for third.  The second place team of Greg Wilson, John Buchan, Damien Kelly & Beth Prescott had nett 56.75 after shooting 67. They had a mixed round with six birdies, two bogeys and ten pars - thankfully for them, two of those birdies came in their last four holes and lifted them into second place. The winners beat the field by 2.75 shots with a nett 54. They had a great start to the day when they were two under through three holes, but that slowed with a bogey and pars over the next four before six birdies in a nine hole stretch set them on a path to victory. Congratulations to Daryll Pearce (7), Sandra Pearce (30), Tony Mitchell (15) & Joan Mitchell (36).

The charity event on course raised $815 for the Cancer Council. Thank you to all who contributed! We also had the 'smash factor' hole on the 6th - see below for a collection of shots.

The opportunity for one Lexus owner to attend the Lexus Melbourne Cup was drawn at the end of the day. Congratulations to Damien Kelly, who will have the opportunity to play Royal Melbourne Golf Club followed by a day at the races in the Lexus Design Pavilion for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
