2019 Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational - The Eastern Golf Club

The Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational took place at The Eastern Golf Club under cool and sometimes rainy conditions. That said, almost 80 guest turned up to participate in the 18 hole event or the beginner lessons and got to 'experience amazing' on behalf of Melbourne City Lexus. 

The difference between the top three teams was just one shot. The unlucky third placed team had a mixed start with three birdies and two bogeys in their first seven holes. They settled after that to post three more birdies and take out third place with nett 58.375. Well done to Yuji Ito, Yoshihiro Yamano Kenji Sagehasi & Takashi Yokoyama. The runners had a steady start to be two under par after thirteen holes and it wasn't until they had four birdies in a row,  that they started to shoot up the leaderboard. In the end, they needed another birdie on their last hole if they were going to take the victory as they fell just 0.125 of a shot short with nett 57.5. Commiserations to Geoff Hesford, Graeme Freeman, David Galt & Matthew Brown. The winners started in the worst way possible, with a bogey on their very first hole. Thankfully for them, that was the last bogey of the day and five birdies allowed them to post 68 and take out the victory with a nett 57.375. Congratulations to Grieg Lythall (14), Anona Armstrong (27), Mark Holden (17) & John Sutcliffe (27).

The charity event on course raised in excess of $1,095 for the Breast Cancer Network Australia - thank you to all who contributed. Ashleigh was managing the 'smash factor' hole on the 14th - see below for a collection of shots (including the winner's smash factor of 1.54!).

The opportunity for one Lexus owner to attend the Lexus Melbourne Cup was drawn at the end of the day. Congratulations to Long Van who will have the opportunity to play Royal Melbourne Golf Club followed by a day at the races in the Lexus Design Pavilion for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
