2019 Lexus of Darwin Golf Invitational - Darwin Golf Club

The Lexus of Darwin Golf Invitational took place at Darwin Golf Club on what turned out to be a beautiful, albeit chilly morning for golf. A record field was on hand and guests were given the opportunity to win a Lexus UX should anyone be lucky enough to have a hole in one on the 8th hole.  

The course was in fantastic condition and good scores would be required to take out the win. In third place with a nett 57.25 was the team of Dean Osborne, Julie-ann Osborne, Kerry Osborne & Therese Osborne who needed a birdie on their final hole to leapfrog three other teams. The runners up had a great start to be three under par through their first five holes, but their momentum was slowed with only one birdie in their next ten holes and meant they would have to settle for second with a fine score of 66 and nett 56.25. Well done to Stuart Johnstone, Kerry Crowley, Ima Core & Tony Avenell. The winners were cruising along at two under par through eleven holes, but a fine finish that included four birdies shot them to the top of the leaderboard as they too shot 66. In the end they won by exactly two shots with nett 54.25 - congratulations to Vicky Purser (11), Tim Penhall (26), Trevor Cox (27) & Evelyn Pike (30).

The charity event on course raised $1,750 for the Starlight Foundation - thank you to all who contributed. An additional $510 was added to this when  a prize was donated back to be auctioned off. In the end, it was auctioned and donated back a number of times and meant to total raised went to $2,260 - well done to all involved.

The opportunity for one Lexus owner to attend the Lexus Melbourne Cup was drawn at the end of the day. Congratulations to Bruce Fadelli who made an emotional speech when he accepted the prize. Bruce & Carol will have the opportunity to play Royal Melbourne Golf Club followed by a day at the races in the Lexus Design Pavilion for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
