Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational 2017 - Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club

The Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational was again hosted by Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club. Whilst a few showers did dampen spirits mid morning, all in all we were very lucky to get through most of the day without requiring an umbrella. 

Scoring was tight with eight teams within three shots of the winning score. Ultimately a count back was required to separate third place from the runners up who both finished with a nett 59. Commiserations to John Vlahiotis, Morgan Douglas, Mark Butler & Renzo Rebuli who had a great round of six under par. Winning the count back for runner up were Kevin Birtles, Allan Ballard, Barry Kras & Mark Joel who after a slow start with two bogeys in their first three holes, managed to finish their last fifteen holes in six under par. The eventual winners finished with a nett 57.375 and separated themselves from the rest of the field by more than one and a half shots. Congratulations to Brad Monkcom (12), Anne Burgess (19), Zancheng Zhao (20) & Greg Moran (18) who needed to birdie two of their last three holes to ensure the victory. 

A record crowd of 39 guests attended the beginner golf lessons who were conducted by three of the local golf professionals. Congratulations to Helen Nguyen, Leonie Moran, Gerard Watson & Roni Dattani who all took out prizes during the competitions. 

A total of $930 was raised for the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, thanks to the charity ribbon event on the 17th hole. 

The luckiest person on the day was Steven Bojkovski who was drawn out at the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience...congratulations!
