Lexus of Rockhampton 2017 - Rockhampton Golf Club
Perfect conditions greeted a record crowd at the Lexus of Rockhampton Golf Invitational. Again, the golf professionals participating in the tournament later that week, were invited to join a group to lend their golfing skills and hand out the odd tip or two.
The perfect conditions meant scoring was always going to be extremely good. That said, no one quite expected four teams to finish on 14 under par! Commiserations to the teams of Steven Jeffress (Pro), Charlie Harris, Luke Harris, Ty Christison & Doug Christison and Alex Edge (Pro), Brendan Milne, Tim Rawkins, Daniel Withers & Jason Ross who despite their scores of 14 under could not even get in the top three when handicaps were taken into account. In third place with a nett 52.5 were Mitch Brown (Pro), Russell Coombes, Joy Coombes, Gary Cini & Graham Botting who after five birdies to start their round must have been expecting big things. The runners up threw in ten birdies and two eagles for 14 under and a nett 51.9. Well done to Andrew Campbell (Pro), Jim Knuth, Grant Collins, Ben Braitling & Stacey Braitling. Our winners, however, managed to play their last six holes in six under par to finish with nett 50.6 - congratulations to Josh Whitehouse (Pro), Sue Dunne, Lyndee Bollington, Gary Grant & Rick Niven.
There was an opportunity to win a Lexus CT200h valued at $40k on the 11th hole if anyone was lucky enough to get a hole in one. Unfortunately no cars were given away, but $940 was raised for the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service.
Thirteen Lexus guests took part in the beginner golf lessons and prizes were allocated for the winners of the putting and chipping competitions. Congratulations to Susan Lowe (Putting Winner) and Susie Collard (Chipping Winner).
Lunch was jam-packed with the launching of the magnificent LC500, a pro long drive competition, a great meal, prize giving, entertainment and of course the draw for the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience. Well done to Tony Taylor who was the lucky guest to be drawn out - see you at the Cup Tony!
