Lexus of Brighton Golf Invitational 2017 - Metropolitan Golf Club

The Lexus of Brighton Golf Invitational was hosted at the beautiful Metropolitan Golf Club under extremely windy conditions. So much so, that at one point consideration was given to suspending play as gusts reached 76km/hr. 

Scoring was understandably difficult and even with the Ambrose format some par 4's were playing more like par 5's. A number of count backs were required to separate teams, including our third place team, Michael Hadley, Henry Nguo, David Lipshut & Michael Diamond who finished with a nett 59. No count back was required between the winners and runners up, but it was extremely close with the runners up having a nett 57.875, just 0.625 of a shot short of the winning score. Commiserations to Mark Morgan, Craig Smith, Mark Ung & Nhat Tran who shot the lowest score of the day of seven under par, but they were also the lowest handicapped team. Our winners had some local knowledge with two of the team being members at Metropolitan. That experience surely assisted to get them over the line with five birdies and two bogeys to post a nett 57.25. Congratulations to Richard Scanlan (13), Sandra Scanlan (28), Helen Smith (19) & Damien Smith (26). 

A number of activities took place on course including the ball speed radar gun, Titleist driver demos and the Lexus ribbon charity hole. Thanks to the Lexus ribbon the guests raised $1,531.35 for Beyond Blue. 

A total of six guests attended the Lexus beginner lessons and were hosted by two of the local golf professionals. Congratulations to Valentina Vilshansky for winning the putting competition and Oleg Lapatoukhine for taking out the chipping competition. 

The luckiest guest on the day was Richard Swinard who's name was drawn out to win the Melbourne Cup Experience.
