Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational - 17th Sept 2018

The Lexus of Blackburn Golf Invitational was held at the number one course in Australia, The Royal Melbourne Golf Club. As usual, the course was in fantastic condition and together with the weather looking after us, everyone was in for a great day. 

The typically fast greens always make scoring tough...add a little bit of wind and the teams were going to be tested. That said, there was one team that proved a good score was possible! In third place was the team of Barrie Henman, Kayne Henman, Matthew Henman & Peter Bennett, who were five under after their first twelve holes and must have been wondering if they could take out the winners prize, until their only bogey of the day on the thirteenth hole. They never quite recovered and finished with a nett 57.625. Over two shots better were Stephen Dodd, Robin Dodd, John Corcoran & Gillian Corcoran after they shot a fine 67. They were off to a great start and were six under par with just two holes to go until they experienced their only bogey of the day to finish with nett 55.375. Our winners finished with a nett score of 52.5 and were almost three shots ahead of their closest rival, but, like those teams mentioned above, their progress was slowed by a bogey mid-way through their round. However, they were able to get things going again and finished their last seven holes in five under par. Congratulations to Stephen Wright (5), John Garner (19), Ernie Chin (25) & Wendy Chin (35).

Funds were raised on course for the Finan's Gift (supporting cardiac care at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne). Thank you to all those who donated as we raised $1,695. Guests also had the chance to win a Lexus with a hole in one on the 5th hole. Unfortunately, no one was lucky enough to hit the perfect shot, however it did make for some good viewing!
