Lexus Golf Invitational - Links Hope Island - Thursday

A record Thursday Lexus crowd was on hand for the three Lexus Golf Invitationals at the beautiful Links Hope Island. The larger crowd and perfect playing conditions meant scoring was going to be hot...but no one predicted the 59 from one team! 

In third place with a fine score of 53.875 were the team of Chandra Trikham, Ajay Amin, Umesh Patel & Sukbhir Patheja who finished strongly with five under their last five holes to sneak a podium finish. The runners up had a fast start to be six under par through eight holes, but they could only achieve two more birdies for the rest of their round to finish on a nett 53.625, just 0.25 of a shot better than third place. Well done to Ron Robbie, Pamela Robbie, Peter Wright & Janice Wright. The winners, however, were clearly out to set some records. There start was fantastic, with seven birdies on their first eight holes. They must have started to prepare their winning speeches because things slowed down considerably when they parred their next five holes. Realising the rest of the field had caught up to them must have kicked them back into gear and they finished their last five holes in six under par to shoot the magical 59. There were a host of activities on course, including the radar gun on the 8th hole, a free drive from Ali on the 11th, the charity event on the 17th raising funds for MND & ME and the shot tracer on the 2nd hole. For all the action from the 2nd, please see the video below.

No one was more excited at the end of the day when John Stubbs' name was drawn out as the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience. Well done John, we look forward to hosting you for what should be a fantastic event.
