2022 Lexus of Port Macquarie Golf Invitational - Port Macquarie Golf Club

The Lexus of Port Macquarie Golf Invitational was the first Lexus event of 2022 and it was a great chance to see the guests in the new Footjoy shirts and Titleist caps. Unfortunately, our enthusiasm for the first event of the year was not matched by the weather! Heavy rain in the previous 24 hours meant for a nervous wait, but thankfully the rain cleared just in time for the start and only a few light showers were seen for the rest of the day. Special thanks to Port Macquarie Golf Club for allowing the use of golf carts under the wet conditions.

Amazingly, we had 100% attendance and the guests were rewarded with a full 18 holes in remarkably nice conditions, compared with the previous 24 hours. The runner up place had to be separated by a count back after both teams finished with nett 58.5. Unfortunately, the three-ball team of Peter Hearle, Bill Cumberland and Dave Bailey were the unlucky ones after they finished with a back nine of 35 compared to the runner up team's 33. That runner up team started off in spectacular fashion when they personally raised more than $200 for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and were granted a hole in one for their generosity. They carried on to have four birdies and two bogeys on their way to the equal lowest score of the day. Well played, Ian Emmerson, Matt Smith, Ralph Eriksson & Gary Hamilton. The winners were more than a shot clear of the rest of the field with nett 57.32 and took full advantage of their handicaps to finish with five birdies and four bogeys. Congratulations Robyn Ryan, James Farr, Allen Smith & Pam Smith.

Ashleigh was on the 12th tee measuring the guest's 'smash factor' - see below for a collection of swings.

Six guests also took part in the beginner golf lessons with Belinda from Port Macquarie Golf Club. Congratulations to Pramila Curtain who won the putting competition and Hiroko Plowright who won the chipping competition.

The opportunity to go to the Lexus Melbourne Cup and play The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was drawn at the end of the day - congratulations to Haley Hyde who will have the opportunity to attend LANDMARK by Lexus for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
